Back in 2014, the Norwegian film, In Order of Disappearance, was released, earning international praise for its blend of action, black comedy, and realistic characters. Fast forward to today, and the film is being remade by Hollywood, as the Liam Neeson thriller, Cold Pursuit. Unlike many remakes, this new version is being helmed by the same director of the original, Hans Petter Moland. While the setting has been updated to the United States (though the film was shot in Alberta, Canada), Cold Pursuit goes to great lengths to retain the feel and sensibilities of the original, and thus feels uniquely European in its sensibilities, which should come as a breath of fresh air in a world of homogeneous Hollywood blockbusters....

A new fan edited video makes light of the recent Game of Thrones coffee cup gaffe by inserting Starbucks into Indiana Jones. This Sunday’s episode of HBO’s Game of Thrones featured a lot of shocking moments, but none was more stunning than the surprise appearance of a modern day coffee cup during a scene set in the castle of Winterfell. Coffee of course does not exist on the show, which takes place in a fantasy universe largely inspired by medieval Britain....

HBO Max just revealed a new reality show called 12 Dates of Christmas. Set to premiere in 2020, the new title joins a long list of features that will be available only on the exclusive streaming app. Expected to launch in May 2020, HBO Max is a brand new direct-to-consumer streaming service from AT&T’s WarnerMedia. Reported to hold 10,000 hours of streaming content, HBO Max will feature popular titles, such as Friends, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, The Big Bang Theory, and South Park....

Harry Potter fans love to argue about the relationship between Severus Snape and Lily Potter. Snape’s self-proclaimed love for Harry’s mother became the guiding force of his actions throughout the series, and there was a portion of the book dedicated to seeing Snape’s history with Lily and understanding the moral relativity that exists in even the people we think are clearly good or evil. J.K. DC’s latest Birds of Prey comic series is being postponed to 2020 so that it can join the Black Label, their line of mature-rated comics. The new comic series featuring DC’s hottest crime-stopping crew was previously set to debut in October. Now, the title is being pushed back to give it a more “mature” tone, and to help tie in to the upcoming Birds of Prey film. In February of 2020 Harley Quinn and her merry team of misfits will be hitting the big screen in their own R-rated adventure....

The Harry Potter movies were a key part of many people’s childhoods. People became enchanted by the story of the teenager who attends Hogwarts, learns magic, and manages to defeat the biggest of bad guys in the form of Lord Voldemort. While the films somewhat skimmed over elements of the books, they did a brilliant job at bringing J.K. Rowling’s tale to life on the big screen.
