HBO just embraced Apple TV and AirPlay.

HBO’s Eric Kessler announced at AllThingsD’s Dive Into Media Conference on Tuesday that his company is enabling Airplay on the HBO Go app. The news follows reports from last week that claimed Apple and HBO would soon team up to deliver HBO Go content on the Apple TV.

The HBO Go app still requires an HBO cable subscription. Kessler did not mention whether HBO would offer a paid version of HBO Go to users who don’t subscribe, but HBO subscribers can at least now stream premium programs, such as “True Blood,” “Newsroom,” “Sopranos,” “Boardwalk Empire,” etc., from their iPhone or iPad to a television via AirPlay.

That’s not all, though. HBO said it hopes to bring HBO Go to the Apple TV soon:

HBO Go is a free universal app on the App Store.
