We’re coming up on a month since Apple shared that it slows down iPhones based on battery age and wear to prevent from unexpected shutdowns. Shortly after Apple apologized for how it handled the battery slowdown issue, the company clarified that all iPhone 6 and later models are eligible for the discounted battery replacement, without needing to fail diagnostics.
Early this month, Barclays estimated that there are about 520 million iPhones eligible for the replacement program, and predicted that 54 million would take advantage of it. The next day, the “Swap-apocalypse” began with some users reporting they had to join waiting lists up to six weeks long before getting a battery swap.
