Ron Weasley might be part of the golden trio in Harry Potter, but he’s probably the character out of the three of them that comes across as the most flawed. While he is a good character with many great qualities, he also has some less than desirable traits.

He is a character that doesn’t have a lot of tact and because of this, he can be quite shameless at times. There are many instances where he is selfish and doesn’t think about the way he’s treating other people. Here are the ten most shameless things that Ron Weasley ever did.

STEALING THE FORD ANGLIA FROM HIS PARENTS

One of the dumbest things that Ron and Harry ever did together was stealing the Ford Anglia from Ron’s parents. Ron should have known that this could possibly get his father in huge trouble. But, instead of just waiting to talk to his parents about not being able to get on the platform, he and Harry decide to fly the car to Hogwarts.

This is not a smart thing to do, and it’s also really brash. This is definitely something that both of them should have thought through more.

TAKING THINGS OUT ON HERMIONE BECAUSE HE COULDN’T HANDLE HIS FEELINGS FOR HER

Ron might have had a crush on Hermione for many years before he even realized it completely, but he was definitely not good at treating Hermione kindly. There were many times where he ended up taking things out on her because he wasn’t sure how he was supposed to act given his romantic feelings.

He got upset with her when other guys showed interest, and he acted out irrationally. This definitely wasn’t a good way to act, and it’s really shameless how much of a double standard he had.

NOT BELIEVING HARRY ABOUT THE TRIWIZARD TOURNAMENT

Ron is often a good friend; he is really supportive of Harry and helps him with a lot of things. But, just like most friendships, things aren’t always perfect. One of the worst examples of Ron being a shameless friend and not sticking up for Harry was during the Triwizard Tournament.

He didn’t listen to Harry or believed him that he didn’t enter on his own. Instead, he stopped being his friend and acted rather petty and jealous.

USING LAVENDER AND THEN NOT BREAKING UP WITH HER

When Ron started dating Lavender, it was clear that he was mostly doing it because he wanted to date someone and wasn’t sure how to make that happen with Hermione. He didn’t really like her that much, and he ended up treating her and Hermione rather poorly.

Then, when he got tired of Lavender and didn’t want to be with her anymore, he didn’t even have the guts to be honest with her. Instead, he just ignored her until she broke up with him. This definitely is a pretty shameless way to treat someone you’re dating.

THINKING HERMIONE SHOULD HANDLE THINGS LIKE COOKING

When the trio was on the run going from place to place trying to find the Horcruxes, Ron made some rather outdated assumptions. He seemed to think that Hermione should have been the one in charge of things like cooking and organizing.

This was pretty sexist of him, and it also showed the fact that Ron had been rather spoiled his whole life. He was not used to doing these kinds of things for himself and expected to be taken care of.

THE FACT HE NEVER QUESTIONED HIS OWN PRIVILEGE IN THE WIZARDING WORLD

Along with having some rather sexist notions, Ron could also be rather shameless about his blind spots regarding his privileges. Ron grew up in the wizarding world, and so he was unaware of the biases that are common in that society.

He didn’t really see the injustices in the ways that many other intelligent creatures are treated. He was especially shameless in the way he talked about house-elves and wanted to be pampered by them.

GETTING UPSET ABOUT GINNY DATING

Ron definitely had a lot of double standards when it came to dating and how things work for boys and girls. So, when Ginny started dating, he got really upset about it.

He seemed bothered by the fact that other people around him and in his family were dating while he wasn’t. He also seemed to think that a girl dating often was not desirable or acceptable, and this just seems really old-fashioned.

ALWAYS EXPECTING HERMIONE TO HELP HIM WITH COURSEWORK

Some of the most shameless things that Ron did had to do with how he treated Hermione. While they are friends and it’s okay to ask for your friends’ help, Ron definitely took advantage of Hermione’s help too many times.

He was sometimes rather lazy about school and about getting his homework done, and he seemed to think that Hermione should be there to help him out and pick up his slack.

ACTING LIKE A TOTAL JERK TO PADMA AT THE YULE BALL

Most of Ron’s most shameless moments in the Harry Potter series had to do with how he acted in the dating world. He was pretty rude at times to both Hermione and Lavender, and he was always rather shameless when he took Padma to the ball.

Instead of just hanging out and having a good time as friends, he ignored her the whole time and sulked because Hermione was on a date with someone else.

LEAVING HARRY AND HERMIONE ALONE ON THE HORCRUX HUNT

Ron definitely had moments where he faltered as a friend, but the most shameless moment where he was a bad friend was when he ditched Harry and Hermione and left them on a dangerous mission alone.

While some of his actions could be excused by the Horcrux, this wasn’t exactly out of character for him completely. Luckily, he at least felt bad immediately and wanted to come back.
