Hermione Granger is generally seen as one of the most heroic and good characters from the Harry Potter series. While she’s a good person in many ways, she also has some character flaws. These things make her an interesting, complex character. Just like many of the other characters from the series, there are times when Hermione can be a bit shameless about her actions and what she does.

Here are the ten most shameless things that Hermione has ever done.

BEING ANNOYED WHEN HARRY DID BETTER AT POTIONS THAN HER

Hermione is seen as the smartest person in her year at Hogwarts, and as far as grades go, this is objectively true. However, she’s not always the best in every class. Harry is often better at Defense Against the Dark Arts. But, what really upsets Hermione is when he uses the Half-Blood Prince’s book and becomes better at potions than she is. It’s pretty shameless how she is so upset by this and tries to get Harry to stop using the book. This mostly seems to stem from jealousy.

ATTACKING RON WITH BIRDS AFTER HE GOT WITH LAVENDER

There’s no denying that Ron and Hermione don’t always get along. Ron can be immature about how he handles his feelings for her, and they often bicker and fight.

When Ron starts dating and making out with Lavender, Hermione’s feelings are hurt. While Ron is being pretty clueless here, this doesn’t give her an excuse to attack him physically. She doesn’t seem to feel much remorse about the fact that she does a spell that causes birds to attack him rather viciously.

BEING A BIT OF A KNOW IT ALL

Hermione is really smart. This is one of the best things about her character and it’s great to see her be the smartest person in many situations. She’s way above average when it comes to doing magic, and she’s also good at other intellectual things such as using logic. While being proud of her accomplishments and her intellect is a great thing, there are times where she can be too much of a know it all. She often is so intense about being seen as the smartest that she gets annoying about it.

USING THE TIME TURNER TO TAKE EXTRA CLASSES

One thing about the Harry Potter books that doesn’t make a lot of sense is that Hermione is given a time turner to go to her classes. First of all, it doesn’t make sense that the adults in these situations would bend the rules to allow a thirteen-year-old to take a few extra classes. On Hermione’s part, it’s pretty shameless that she’s so insistent on taking more classes than is possible that a strange solution has to be thought up.

STEALING FROM SNAPE’S POTION SUPPLY

Hermione might be the one of the trio who is most likely to worry about breaking the rules, but she’s also someone who breaks many of them. While she might be more concerned about doing things the right way within the rules, she will break them if it means doing what she feels is right. So, it’s not that surprising that she breaks into Snape’s stores to steal ingredients more than once. While her reasons might have been good, it’s also rather shameless of her.

USING THE POLYJUICE POTION ON OTHER STUDENTS WITHOUT REALLY KNOWING IF IT WAS SAFE

Hermione is a person who is very sure of her abilities when it comes to using magic. When she’s only twelve years old she decides she has the skills to brew the illegal Polyjuice Potion.

While it mostly ended up alright, this is a very advanced potion. This could have gone even more wrong than Hermione turning into a half-cat for a while. She’s not worried at all about the possible consequences and has a little too much self-assured confidence in this situation.

KEEPING RITA SKEETER AS A BUG IN A JAR

Rita Skeeter is objectively a pretty awful person. She doesn’t seem to care about people at all, and she tells horrible lies about them just to get a juicy story. Her stories do a lot of damage to people’s lives, and it’s true that she needed to be stopped. However, Hermione’s method of keeping her from writing stories is rather messed up. She imprisons Rita while she’s a bug and keeps her there for weeks. This seems kind of cruel.

BEING RATHER RUDE TO LUNA

Hermione is someone who seems to care a lot about equality and treating people well, so it’s kind of messed up that she’s so rude to Luna from the get-go.

Even though Hermione herself has been called horrible names for being a Muggle-born, she goes around and judges Luna without really knowing her. She participates in calling her “Loony” and isn’t very open-minded. This seems quite brash.

THINKING SHE’S BETTER THAN OTHER PEOPLE

Hermione is better at certain things than many of her peers. She has exemplary grades, but beyond that, she’s just really gifted at doing magic. She also is someone who works really hard to be at the top of her class, and she tries to be a good person. While these are all wonderful things, this doesn’t mean she’s better than other people. She just has different gifts and skills in some areas. So, the fact she can be a bit too condescending towards other people is definitely one of the most shameless things about her.

CASTING A CONFUNDUS CHARM ON MCLAGGEN

For someone who can be rather self-righteous when people around her break rules, it’s pretty blatant that she is fine with casting the confundus charm on Cormac McLaggen. She gets really upset at Harry when she thinks he uses the Felix Felicis on Ron, yet she was the one who jinxed Cormac so that Ron would get the seeker position. While she might have been trying to help Ron, it’s kind of messed up.
