Harry, Ron, and Hermione are often known as the Golden Trio in Harry Potter fandom. These three are the main focus of the books, and Harry’s friendship with Ron and Hermione are central to him being able to defeat Voldemort.

While the three of them might be great friends who often have each other’s backs, they weren’t always perfect to each other. They all made mistakes and would sometimes be bad friends to one another. Here are the ten worst things that the trio ever did to each other.

HARRY AND RON GETTING ANGRY AT HERMIONE FOR TELLING ABOUT THE FIREBOLT

While all three of these characters were friends, there were definitely times where the two boys were on the same side against Hermione. They sometimes saw things in a more similar way, and they didn’t appreciate when Hermione was more level headed or concerned about the rules.

When Hermione told McGonagall about the Firebolt, she did so out of concern for Harry’s safety. However, Ron and Harry got mad at her and didn’t understand where she was coming from.

HARRY AND RON NOT REALLY SUPPORTING S.P.E.W.

Hermione is definitely a person who can be a bit zealous when it comes to certain causes, and Harry and Ron aren’t exactly like that. However, it wasn’t that supportive when Ron and Harry didn’t support Hermione’s S.P.E.W. efforts.

While Hermione might have been a bit obnoxious about it at times, it really was a good cause. It’s frustrating that Ron and Harry couldn’t really see the inequality that the house-elves were dealing with.

HERMIONE AND RON NOT SENDING HARRY LETTERS BEFORE FIRTH YEAR

This point is a bit complicated, but it’s still frustrating when you think about it from Harry’s perspective. Harry was basically left with hardly any useful with anyone in the wizarding world the summer before his fifth year at Hogwarts.

While Ron and Hermione might have wanted to keep their promise to Dumbledore, it would be hard to forgive the fact that Ron and Hermione kept so much from him during this time.

HARRY LASHING OUT AT BOTH OF THEM DURING ORDER OF THE PHOENIX

While Harry’s frustration with being left out of everything during the summer in Order of the Phoenix is understandable, the way he took things out on Ron and Hermione wasn’t all right. He continually lashed out at them and yelled at them during that entire year.

Clearly, Harry was struggling with the trauma of Sirius’ death, but he shouldn’t have gotten so angry at the people who were supporting him the most.

HERMIONE GETTING JEALOUS OF HARRY’S SUCCESS IN POTIONS

Hermione is known for being the smartest person in her grade, and she often excels at all of her classes. There are times when Harry does better at her in Defense Against the Dark Arts, but the thing Hermione really can’t stand is when Harry uses the Half-Blood Prince book to do better at potions.

Her jealousy of this definitely is a bit ridiculous, especially because both of them are literally just following book instructions, and Harry’s book happens to give better ones.

RON AND HARRY NEVER REALLY APPRECIATING HERMIONE’S HELP

In Harry Potter, Hermione often puts up with a lot from the two boys when it comes to having to be on top of everything. They often rely on her for help with schoolwork when they put off doing it. She is also the one who is really prepared and makes it so the three of them can escape the wedding and go on the run.

Despite all that Hermione does to help them, Ron and Harry don’t always appreciate it that much and even tend to get annoyed with her.

RON AND HARRY NOT HELPING HERMIONE WITH BUCKBEAK’S CASE

During their third year, Hagrid is trying to come up with a case for Buckbeak so that his life will be spared. The trio all promise to help him with the defense, but both Hermione and Ron get busy with other things.

It’s really Hermione who does all this work even though she has more classes than anyone else. This is one example of Hermione really going above and beyond and not getting much recognition for it.

WHEN HERMIONE ATTACKS RON WITH THE BIRDS

When the trio gets a little older, romance starts to be an issue. Hermione and Ron have always bickered and had issues with each other, but this is further complicated by the fact they have crushes on one another.

When Ron gets together with Lavender, it’s not that surprising that Hermione is upset. While Ron is definitely a jerk at times and not that emotionally intelligent, the way Hermione handles it isn’t great either. Using the spell to attack him with birds is definitely not alright.

RON BLAMING HERMIONE WHEN SCABBERS APPEARED TO BE DEAD

Ron is often rather rude to Hermione. He tends to take things out on her and get annoyed with her easily. Hermione also gets easily annoyed with him. However, Ron often blows things out of proportion. The biggest example of this is when he blames Crookshanks for Scabbers disappearance.

Even if Crookshanks had killed Scabbers, getting so mad at Hermione that he stopped being friends with her wasn’t a good way to react.

WHEN RON LEFT HARRY AND HERMIONE WHILE ON THE HORCRUX HUNT

All three members of the trio have their moments when they are out of line and not very good friends. However, the most dramatic and sad times where one of them lets another down is when Ron leaves them.

While the locket Horcrux obviously contributed to this decision, seeing him ditch the other two and leave them alone on a dangerous quest was really heart wrenching. While he did come back and wanted to all along, this was definitely a moment where Ron was a bad friend.
