If you are a Harry Potter fan, you probably know how much Harry and Ron hated doing their homework and how much Hermione loved it. If we Muggles went to Hogwarts, none of us would ever complain because magic would be all it took to make up for nasty essay assignments. Yet, what if they came to our world?

Many professors on this list are actually considered some of the most powerful wizards and witches in history. Nevertheless, it’s fun to imagine them being absolutely normal Muggles struggling with keeping the class quiet. Here are 10 Hogwarts professors who could probably keep teaching in the muggle world.

Cuthbert Binns

Perhaps the most unusual of all the professors at Hogwarts, Cuthbert Binns taught the History of Magic for a long while until he eventually died in his sleep of old age… and became a ghost. Fortunately (or unfortunately) for him, Binns didn’t even notice his own death and came to his class just like he always did, except that he was a ghost now.

Nevertheless, Professor Binns’s lessons have often been described as boring because he tends to ramble on about everything and anything that concerns the history of the Wizarding World. If he was a Muggle professor, there probably wouldn’t be a huge difference and he would be teaching the same boring History classes.

Sybill Trelawney

Many fans will probably remember the outgoing and weird Sybill Trelawney who taught Divination at Hogwarts. Perhaps this is exactly the case when you need several professors per subject rather than having only one. After all, there can be many ways to interpret the tea leaves predicting what you will get for breakfast tomorrow, and a fresh point of view of a different Divination professor would help.

Seeing that Trelawney had such a good imagination and was quite creative, art seems to be the best fit for her. She would probably let students have a lot of freedom when it comes to creating their art pieces, but once in a while she would get all dark and serious and start talking about the different ways that small black spot actually symbolizes death.

Rolanda Hooch

Rolanda Hooch’s subject might not have been the most important, but it was still very useful for Harry. Madame Hooch taught students how to fly on broomsticks and then helped them train for Quidditch which is already pretty cool. In addition to that, she knew her job pretty well and was always a very fair referee at the Quidditch tournaments.

There is no doubt that Hooch would be one of the most loved teachers at a Muggle school. She would be teaching Physical Education and maybe some extra-curricular sports classes. Maybe she would even coach some famous sportsmen!

Pomona Sprout

Though not very remembered among fans, Pomona Sprout taught Herbology at Hogwarts for a long time and was also the Head of Hufflepuff House. She had extensive knowledge of the numerous magical plants which allowed her to cure those who were petrified by Slytherin’s Monster and then fight to protect Hogwarts in the final battle.

You could say that Professor Sprout is as much of a notable Hufflepuff as is Newt Scamander even though they showed their best traits in different ways. As a Muggle, Sprout would definitely teach Biology. After all, what can be closer to Herbology than the Muggle study of plants, animals, and humans?

Rubeus Hagrid

Everybody knows the lovable giant that Rubeus Hagrid is. For students, he was simply Hagrid, and, for Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger, he was a true friend. Even though Hagrid seemed to have no regard for the basic rules of safety, his classes were always fun to attend as students could learn about various magical creatures.

Unfortunately for us Muggles, there is no real equivalent of this subject. However, there is Geography which could actually suit Hagrid pretty well. He seems to know a lot about the habitat of every magical creature, so it’s no wonder that he would be able to teach Geography. Besides, indigenous animals are a part of this subject too.

Remus Lupin

One of the most loved characters, Remus Lupin was also respected and admired by Hogwarts students (not that the same could be said about their parents once they found out that he is a werewolf). Sadly, the curse of the Defense Against the Dark Arts teaching post did not pass him by, so he had to leave the school.

Professor Lupin had the kind of mysterious and quiet yet adventurous soul that can only be found in Literature professors. If he had to teach classes at a Muggle school, he would be talking about the characters in Moby Dick and Oliver Twist with the same passion he had for his Hogwarts subject.

Filius Flitwick

Most fans will remember Filius Flitwick’s abrupt and strange transformation from an elderly half-goblin into a middle-aged one in the middle of the Harry Potter movie franchise. Yet, what is more important about this professor is that he was quite skilled in Charms and even became the Head of Ravenclaw House.

Seeing that he was extremely smart, Professor Flitwick would probably be great at teaching Economics in Muggle schools. Moreover, he would make this subject sound interesting and make students genuinely interested in his lessons.

Severus Snape

You can have all kinds of opinions about Severus Snape, but there is no denying that he was one of the most talented wizards in Potion-making. In fact, he even invented his own approach towards certain potions and eventually developed his own spells that often had dangerous effects (Harry almost killed Draco with one of these).

Professor Snape always wanted to get the position of Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, but he was stuck with Potions (despite also being the Head of Slytherin House and then becoming Headmaster). Perhaps this was a clear sign that he is better off brewing something just like Muggle chemists do. This is exactly why he would be teaching Chemistry.

Minerva McGonagall

Minerva McGonagall could actually make a Headmistress of Hogwarts just as good as Albus Dumbledore (if not better). In fact, she did hold that title officially after Voldemort was finally defeated. Before she became Headmistress, however, McGonagall taught Transfiguration and was the Head of Gryffindor House.

A little-known fact is that she was almost put into Ravenclaw which only proves how smart she always was. This would make her an excellent Physics teacher as a Muggle. She would definitely be eager to show different practical experiments to her students (but she wouldn’t turn into a cat).

Albus Dumbledore

When talking about Hogwarts professors, it would be a sin to forget about the one and only Albus Dumbledore. After all, he did act as a professor prior to becoming the Headmaster of Hogwarts. He taught Defense Against the Dark Arts and Transfiguration later on, but he was also very well-known in circles outside of the wizarding school.

Dumbledore was often considered the greatest wizard of modern times who had such skill, knowledge, and power that he was the only one who Voldemort was truly afraid of. Consequently, Dumbledore would probably make a great Algebra or Calculus professor.
