Here’s a guide to crime thriller series Hap And Leonard. Hap And Leonard is based on a series of novels by author Joe R. Lansdale (Bubba Ho-Tep). The series began with 1990’s Savage Season, which also formed the basis for season 1 of the show. Hap And Leonard was developed by Jim Mickle and Nick Damici, who previously adapted Landsdale thriller novel Cold In July into a movie starring Michael C. Hall (Dexter) and Don Johnson.
While Hap And Leonard is a crime series, the interplay between the characters serves up a lot of laughs too. The show received mostly good reviews during its run, which came to an end in 2018 after three seasons. Each season lasted six episodes, making it ridiculously easy to binge a whole season. He and Leonard are sucked into a scheme to recover some lost treasure by his ex-wife in season 1. Hap is usually the more leveled headed of the duo but he’s more than capable in a fight.
Michael K. Williams - Leonard Pine
Michael K. Williams (The Wire) is Leonard, a gay Vietnam vet known for his explosive temper. In season 1 he teams up with Hap to recover the treasure and where his buddy Hap tries to avoid violence, Leonard has no problem dishing it out. Despite this, Hap and Leonard share a warm friendship.
Christina Hendricks - Trudy Fawst
Christina Hendricks (Mad Men) plays Hap’s ex during season 1 of Hap And Leonard. She’s an activist who approaches Hap about recover some sunken treasure, and basically acts as the femme fatale of the season.
Cranston Johnson - Detective Hanson
Hanson is a key character from the Hap And Leonard book introduced during the second season. He doesn’t particularly like either of them, but they find a shared purpose in season 3 when Florida - who is an ex of both Hanson and Hap - goes missing and they work together to find her.
Tiffany Mack - Florida Grange
Tiffany Mack (Jessica Jones) played Florida during season 2 and 3 of Hap And Leonard, and her disappearance in the latter season sparks off an emotional journey to find out what happened. Florida is strong and determined and has a romantic past with Hap.
